Content Management System
Key Features
eCMS is a Content Management System and a development framework. With functionality like easy to create and edit content, an advanced workflow system, content versioning, collaboration, e-commerce functionality, role based access control, discussion forums and much more you can create all kinds of websites.

Access Anywhere

As long as you have a computer with access to the Internet and access to your site through a username and a password you can work with eCMS from your office or your sofa. That way you can edit your site as quickly as you wish. Work whenever and wherever you prefer.

Admin Interface

By using the standard setup in the admin interface you will soon understand and appreciate how the interface is designed and works. You have easy access to content, features, classes and users. Editing and adding content is very easy and logical.

No technical experience is needed by day-to-day users.

Collaboration

With the collaboration functionality you can work together with other people or delegate tasks to others. This feature is best illustrated by an example:

An editor wants to make a story on an Epidemic. He assigns the following tasks:

  • Photograph A: take pictures
  • Journalist B: write story
  • Journalist C: get background statistics
Upon completion the editor will receive the complete article and may choose to publish the story or reject with comments. The other person will then get a notice telling her what to do.

The collaboration functionality may also be used for many other processes, such as distributing tasks in a support service, handling of requests from customers, or invitations to meetings/events.

Customization

In eCMS you don't have to make your content fit a certain predefined, one-size-fits-all content model. eCMS lets you create your own content classes with exactly the attributes you need. This lets you structure your data very well, and makes it easier for you to present the data in various ways when needed.

Design

To present the objects to the user of the web page, you create templates. You would create one template for each content class, or more if objects of this class should be able to present them self in various ways. eCMS separates Layout, Code, Content and Language. You can redesign or implement a new design or templates without worrying about the content changing. eCMS is using Cascading Stylesheets (CSS) for design like font, sizes and colors.

Dynamic Content System

The Dynamic Content System (DCS) is a very simple concept, you can edit blocks of HTML code or text from admin screen and you can display a block in any eCMS template or user module. Updating the block content will update the template.

You can also program block content by date storing several blocks to be displayed in future dates. This simple system adds a lot of flexibility to eCMS, you can display anything you like anywhere in the screen and you can set-up portions that can be changed or that change automatically along time.

The DCS can be used for:

  • To display a quote in the top bar or a user module
  • To display news in a user module
  • To announce meetings, chats, news according to time
  • To announce any event
  • Anything!
Document/File Manager

In eCMS you can handle and work with all kinds of files and publish them on your website. PDF, images and documents are among the files that can be handled.

The file management section is a download manager, you can create/edit file galleries which are collections of files; you can define the permission to this system, create file galleries, upload files and download files.

Statistics are recorded for each download; rankings where defined for the top downloaded files, most visited file galleries and last uploaded files.

Modules are also available to display last changed file galleries, last uploaded files, top downloaded files and top visited file galleries.

Galleries can be used for
  • Uploading Document in form of PDF, Word, Excel
  • News and Articles
  • And more…
News Letter

The newsletters feature allow admin to define as many newsletters as he want, users can subscribe to newsletters and a email confirmation is required to prevent spamming. Then admin can send HTML based newsletters to the subscribed and confirmed users to a newsletter. This can be used to communicate your site news, broadcast site events etc.
Articles

The articles & submissions system allows editors to publish articles, articles can belong to a topic and topics can be administered, the articles can use an image or the topic image, you can set up the publishing date of any article allowing you to program articles for the future. The article content can use the eCMS syntax or regular HTML. The CMS system has submissions; users can send ‘proposed articles’ as submissions and the editors can edit the submissions, remove them or approve those becoming articles

Banners

Some time ago banners were used to generate revenues for successful websites, today this practice is not that frequent but banners are still popular. Why? Because they are a great way to generate traffic for a web site, community sites, and many sites can use banners and interchange banners with other sites to generate more visitors, more page views and more traffic to their sites.

Comments

The comment system can be configured to allow users to vote comments; a system maintains a “level” for each user the level improves when a user comment is voted by another user.
Good qualified users votes add more points to a comment than users who didn’t get good qualifications.

Comments can be displayed/hidden using simple controls and the admin can control how to sort votes, the number of votes to see by page and the minimum threshold (score) for a vote to be displayed.

Users can comment about
  • Pages
  • Image galleries
  • File galleries
  • Articles and polls

FAQ’s

FAQs (Frequently asked questions) are lists of common questions and answers about a specific topic. FAQs are a very common tool in communities to group popular questions and have them solved in a common place without the need to repeat the same answer multiple times. eCMS allows you to create as many FAQs as you want with any number of questions in each FAQ, users will be able to browse FAQs and read the questions and their answers.
